Winter has officially arrived and we’re all excited! Right? Stepping out into the frigged elements, breathing that cold air, standing in the wind. Sound like an enjoyable time? Maybe not so much. Check out these three simple winter remedies with essential oils to help tackle Winter head-on.
2 tablespoons Fractionated Coconut Oil
10 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
10 drops Thyme Essential Oil
10 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
Sometimes just getting out the door can be difficult when temperatures are below freezing. Try this mix to help you enjoy the outdoors without feeling uncomfortably cold. Mix all ingredients and place into a rollerball container. Before spending time in cold weather, roll the warming blend onto areas with a tendency of chilling up.
1 teaspoon Aloe Vera Gel
2 tablespoons Vitamin E Oil
1/3 cup Water
15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
Whether walking to the post office or enjoying some alpine skiing, having parts of my face exposed to the wind is almost a daily experience for me. The relentless wind can cause serious damage to my skin. Try this mixture that I found at the Aromahead Institute for those windy situations. Place all ingredients in a small food processer and blend well. Transfer mixture to a spray bottle. Mist your face before and after time spent out in the wind.
2 tablespoons Shea Butter
1 teaspoon Beeswax
1 tablespoon Coconut Oil
3 drops Myrrh Essential Oil
3 drops Lavender Essential Oil
3 drops Lemon Oil
Cold and dry air becomes taxing on the skin, the most obvious being the hands. I have tweaked this recipe from dōTERRA’s Living Magazine and use it daily to keep my cuticles and hands soft and moist. Melt shea butter, beeswax and coconut oil together at a low heat. Remove from heat and add the essential oils. Immediately transfer to an airtight glass container and cool. Use on hands and cuticles to ease dryness.
