Balance, strength and focus. Always a fun time with the TC race team, they always came with smiles and an eagerness to learn the poses. At points they would proudly name and graceful execute poses even before a prompt. Funny and lighthearted, these kids are sharp and focused for racing and I was there to incorporate a balanced yoga to the hard work outs. Ages ranging from 6 -14 yrs, the kids loved it all. We incorporated dynamic stretches to lubricate the worked joints from the day on the hill, balancing poses to create stability in the core, and forward folds and backbends to stretch out the hamstrings and quads from hard training.
Funny story: One of the younger kids one day asked Jas, the coach, that I mentioned in final relaxation to calm the mind and be completely focused. He said, that it is different that what he is doing before the race… he is psyching himself up and getting amped for the race. Awesome how kids see it, next time I think I’ll have them focus on winning!!! They had a great season and already planning for the next year : )
