So do I have your attention? I just thought I would make this short and sweet, haha 🙂
Do you crave chocolate, love sweets, exercise, or ever have cramps? This could be a dip in your blood sugar or maybe just a cry for Magnesium in your diet.
GO for CACAO!
Cacao and Dark Chocolate contain potassium, calcium, vitamin C, iron and copper. They are also great for athletes and vegetarians because they are also rich in iron and magnesium.
In addition. they are higher in antioxidants than blueberries and red wine. Love that anti-aging attribute.
Magnesium is what keeps the heart healthy and it’s great for athletes because it increases and promotes heart function and keeps blood flowing better.
Here is my go to recipe for this tasty snack and feel free to have fun with it! Explore, experiment and enjoy.
2 cups walnuts
1 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 brazil nuts
Handful or figs or dates is great or use brown rice syrup if you are limiting your sugar
1/2 cup coconut chips
Dash sea salt
Pinch of water
2/3 cup (or more to make it dark) cacao powder from Lifefoods
*** If you want a minty treat – add just 2 drops of doTERRA peppermint oil. ***
And if you want a touch more bang for your buck add Maca powder or Gogi berries : )
The core of this recipe comes from Dr Libby’s book Real Food Chef, which I can’t rave enough about. Try the beetroot chocolate cake!!! She calls them brain balls, due to the healthy source of monounsaturated fats and the omega 3 fatty acids from the walnuts. Yum.
So what are you waiting for? In the states you can get cacao from just about everywhere but in NZ I recommend ordering from Lifefoods!
